ON DEMAND 2002

MILFORD, Conn. & NORWELL, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2002

Over 150 Exhibitors Showcased Latest Offerings for Rapidly Growing Digital Printing and Publishing Market; Conference Sessions Offered Insight into Latest Industry Trends

Advanstar Communications and CAP Ventures Inc., today announced that preliminary registration numbers exceeded expectations for the ninth annual ON DEMAND Digital Printing and Publishing Strategy Conference and Exposition, held April 22-25 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Featuring the latest digital printing and publishing technologies and solutions from over 150 exhibitors, ON DEMAND 2002 attracted nearly 19,000 industry professionals from around the world.

Attendees packed into the aisles of the convention center, exploring over 90,700 square feet of exhibits, product demonstrations, and meeting space. In addition, attendees had access to over 60 conference sessions and keynotes that provided the latest information on general trends, leading solutions, as well as a forum to network with peers.

"Traffic was tremendous--it exceeded everyone's expectations!," said Brian Randall, group show director of Advanstar Communications. "This turnout illustrates that there is a very large demand for digital printing and publishing technologies. Not only did we exceed our registration expectations, but the quality of attendees also increased. We have received extremely positive feedback on the event from both attendees and exhibitors. Eager buyers packed the show floor and flooded exhibitor booths to check out the latest innovations. We anticipate an even more successful show as ON DEMAND co-locates with AIIM in 2003."

"It was a great show for our organization in terms of generating quality sales leads," said Ginger Allen, event specialist of Konica. "The traffic flow was even better than last year. Our booth was packed with visitors every day of the event. The quality of attendee was at the C-level, meaning most people we met with were authorized to buy solutions rather than recommend and suggest."

"ON DEMAND 2002, with its excellent attendance and lively atmosphere, marks a turning point for recent graphic arts shows," said Charles A. Pesko, Jr., managing director of CAP Ventures, Inc. "At the same time it represents a very positive sign for the economy, an excellent indication of New York City's resiliency, and a confirmation of the value of digital processes for document delivery."

"We had quality attendees stop by our booth throughout all three days," said Barry Annis, manager trade shows and events of Ricoh Corporation. "The second day of the exposition presented us with over 350 leads. Next year will be a real benefit having the ON DEMAND and AIIM shows co-locate because we participate in both events. We closed a lot of business on the spot thanks to our dealers bringing their customers to the show."

"The flow of attendees was fantastic," said Kim Vandermallie, trade show manager of IKON Office Solutions. "Overall the show has been wonderful."

ON DEMAND 2003 will co-locate with the AIIM 2003 Conference & Exposition back at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, April 7th-9th. "The momentum of both the ON DEMAND and AIIM events in this challenging year is an early key indicator that the resulting co-location for 2003 will be a powerful global event for the Digital Printing & Publishing and Enterprise Content Management market," said Kerry Gumas, vice president of Advanstar Technology Community.
