Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND), a leading provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, announced today the availability of XTNDConnect Blue SDK 1.1.4 for Windows CE.

The new version of the Bluetooth software development kit for CE devices adds support for seven additional Bluetooth profiles, provides additional APIs and sample applications, and offers tighter integration with the CE operating system for maximum stability and performance.

XTNDConnect Blue SDK for Windows CE is a full-source software development kit that enables mobile device manufacturers to incorporate Bluetooth functionality into Windows CE/Pocket PC-based products. From PDAs (personal digital assistants) and PC tablets to automotive systems and industrial equipment, XTNDConnect Blue SDK for Windows CE enables developers to integrate Bluetooth functionality into a broad range of CE-based products.

"Extended Systems built its Bluetooth software leadership position on its ability to offer a solution that can be utilized in a broad range of products and applications," said Extended Systems Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Don Baumgartner. "With the additions to this release, we now provide Windows CE device manufacturers with an extremely comprehensive, cost-effective solution for implementing Bluetooth on the CE platform."

XTNDConnect Blue SDK 1.1.4 for Windows CE adds support for seven additional Bluetooth profiles, making it the most comprehensive solution available on the market today. These additional profiles include: Headset (HP), Hands-free (HFP), File Transfer (FTP), Hard-copy Cable Replacement (HCRP), Cordless Telephony (CTP), Intercom (IP) and a beta version of Personal Area Networking (PAN). While smart architecture provides tight integration of the Bluetooth 1.1 compliant stack to the Windows CE operating system, enhanced APIs and sample applications allow developers to create robust Bluetooth applications while reducing their overall development time. The total number of supported profiles is now fourteen.
