AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 21, 2002

Wincor Nixdorf Inc., the leader in innovative, open ATM solutions that optimize banking processes, today announced that Tyndall Federal Credit Union of Panama City, Fla. has installed four compactBANK ATMs in two of its branch locations.

The compactBANKs allow Tyndall to offer a convenient range of services beyond the scope of traditional ATMs -- including coin and cash acceptance and dispensing, immediate credit for ATM deposits, and the ability to instantly scan checks, eliminating the need for deposit slips. The compactBANK's advanced capabilities will also enable Tyndall to deliver additional services that would otherwise only be available through a branch location. These services, which when completed will be delivered 24/7 in a self-service ATM, are expected to include printing statements, cashier's checks and loan documents; notifying customers of pre-approved loan status; and accepting first-time deposits from new customers.

Tyndall Federal Credit Union had searched for a self-service ATM that would allow it to deliver advanced services around-the-clock to its customers, who are primarily active or retired military personnel. According to Janet Turner, Tyndall's vice president of interactive services, Wincor Nixdorf's compactBANK was the only solution that met Tyndall's requirements. "We needed a web-based ATM that could connect to Tyndall's network and integrate with our Call Center and CRM system," she said. "Wincor Nixdorf was the only company that understood Tyndall's vision, and the compactBANK was already there technologically."

"The Wincor Nixdorf's compactBANK allows our customers to access bank services at their convenience, and the addition of more compactBANKs will enable Tyndall to quickly expand into a wider geographical area without the usual brick-and-mortar investment," Turner added.

"Tyndall Federal Credit Union has long been recognized for its technology leadership. The compactBANKs will help Tyndall set the standard for customer service in its marketplace," said Scott Hackl, vice president of Wincor Nixdorf Banking Solutions. "Through Wincor Nixdorf's partnership with IBM Global Services, we can help financial institutions deliver innovative new services through the compactBANK and our ProCash(R) family of ATMs." "Tyndall is a perfect example of the successful relationship between IBM and Wincor Nixdorf," he continued. "IBM's leadership in banking systems played a key role in this exciting win."

Wincor Auto Tell, a subsidiary of Wincor Nixdorf, provided software support and systems integration for Tyndall Federal Credit Union. Wincor Auto Tell developed applications based on Wincor Nixdorf's Pro Topas software, which allow the compactBANKs to fully integrate with Tyndall's credit union application from Summit Software.

About the compactBANK

Wincor Nixdorf's compactBANK is the industry's most successful ATM that delivers branch-banking services, including the ability to deposit and dispense cash and coins; load/unload electronic purse; process passbooks, including withdrawals, deposits and updates; print account statements, receipts and other documents; read barcodes; and deposit cash and other valuable documents. The compactBANK is based on Wincor Nixdorf's ProCash 2100 ATM and comes with an encrypted PIN pad and a 15" LCD.

As the leader in open standards for ATMs, Wincor Nixdorf has incorporated Windows NT as its standard operating system for more than five years throughout its ATM product line. A standards-based design, combined with easy servicing and the ability to quickly upgrade for future functionality, allows Wincor Nixdorf to substantially lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) for banks. Wincor Nixdorf's technology leadership also improves the user experience at banks; for example, LCDs are used through the ProCash line, providing a sharp contrast to the commonly used CRTs found in most ATMs.

Wincor Nixdorf's ATM solutions are sold worldwide and are exclusively represented in the United States by IBM Global Services, which markets, sells and services Wincor Nixdorf ATMs in the U.S. market.
