Evans & Sutherland Elects Two New Board Members

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2002

Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation (E&S(R)) (Nasdaq:ESCC) today announced the election of two new directors to its board.

Mr. David J. Coghlan and Dr. William Schneider, Jr. were added to the Board of Directors at E&S's annual meeting on May 16, 2002.

Mr. David J. Coghlan is chief executive officer of Quadrant Group Limited, based in the United Kingdom, and has served in that capacity since 1993. Earlier, Mr. Coghlan served as chairman and joint founder of Mailroom Management Services Limited/Security Despatch Group Limited. Mr. Coghlan has served as director and joint founder of The Fitzhardinge Group Limited, partner at Bain & Company, director of Kyle House Group, and corporate and tax attorney at Dunhill, Morgan & Macready. Mr. Coghlan earned his MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and completed a five-year dual degree in law and financial management at University of New South Wales.

Dr. William Schneider, Jr. is president of International Planning Services, Inc., a Washington-based international trade and finance firm, and is an adjunct fellow of the Hudson Institute. Dr. Schneider serves as an advisor to the U.S. government in several capacities; he is a consultant to the Departments of Defense, Energy, and State, and was appointed by Secretary of State Rumsfeld in March 2001 to serve as chairman of the Defense Science Board. Dr. Schneider is also chairman of the Department of State's Defense Trade Advisory Group. He earned his Ph.D. degree from New York University in 1968. He serves on several boards, including BAE Systems, Inc.
