International Process & Power 2002
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2002
The Process, Power & Offshore division of Intergraph Corporation (Nasdaq:INGR) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Design Data Corp. for resale of the Design Data SDS/2 structural steel detailing and fabrication software. Under terms of the memorandum of understanding, as the exclusive global distributor for the process, power and offshore industries, the division will begin reselling and leasing SDS/2 during second quarter.
SDS/2 interfaces with Intergraph Plant Design System (PDS(TM)) and FrameWorks(R) Plus for 3D structural design of process and power plants and offshore rigs. The SDS/2 and Intergraph software combination makes the structural workflow entirely digital, improves fabrication accuracy and reduces rework to cut costs and accelerate schedules through faster approvals and increased design data integrity.
Intergraph and Design Data officials announced the pending agreement at International Process & Power 2002, where some 400 Intergraph customers from more than 50 countries are participating in a variety of events. The conference continues here through Thursday.
SDS/2, Intergraph Combination Automates Workflow
Jim Dager, president, Design Data, said, "Design Data welcomes the opportunity to exclusively supply SDS/2 through Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore. SDS/2, when linked with FrameWorks Plus, further automates structural engineering work processes and helps speed fabrication."
Gerhard Sallinger, president, Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore, said, "The reseller agreement with Design Data will provide Intergraph customers a single source for integrated structural modeling, detailing and fabrication. The combination of SDS/2, PDS and FrameWorks Plus truly rounds out Intergraph's structural offering."
Producing Intelligent Models
Intergraph PDS is regarded worldwide as the standard software for process, power plant and offshore design and is the world's best selling 3D plant design package. FrameWorks Plus is the structural module of PDS and completes the structural design, analysis, fabrication and detailing workflow to significantly reduce fabrication and detailing rework. FrameWorks Plus 7.1 (www.intergraph.com/structural) produces intelligent 3D models and drawings of steel beams, columns, braces, cutouts and sleeves as well as concrete slabs and walls.
FrameWorks Plus 7.1 exclusively provides combination 2D/3D capabilities with certified interfaces to analysis/design software including GT-STRUDL, LARSA, STAAD-Pro, SAP2000 and RAM Steel. In addition to SDS/2, FrameWorks Plus detailing interfaces include CDS, StruCAD and Xsteel. The Intergraph software is SDNF and CIMsteel compliant and features ASIC and BCSA steel tables to augment its comprehensive library of standard steel section data from 14 countries.
SDS/2 Covers All Structural Phases
Design Data SDS/2 encompasses all phases of the structural steel process including engineering analysis and design, estimating, detailing, production control and CAM and EDI interfaces to other systems. Using the PDS 3D model, SDS/2 automatically designs the connections for beams, columns, bracing and joists according to ASD or LRFD specifications. Users get the material, edge distance and details desired. After connections are designed, the user can model the minor steel (ladders, handrails, hoppers, bins, checkered plate and so on) interactively or parametrically. The software calculates all geometry, setbacks, end preps, lengths, bolts and related details required.
SDS/2 drives production of the most complete set of 2D steel detail drawings available including plan, elevation and isometric for erection. The drawings enable highly consistent fit in the field and reduce or eliminate rework. SDS/2 extensively verifies all CNC data to eliminate problems with any holes, cuts or copes. Structural engineers view job status by interrogating the model, which displays color-coded status of design, detailing, fabrication and erection stages.
Design Data: Detailing Software Pioneer
Design Data (www.dsndata.com) provides software to the fabrication, detailing and engineering sectors of the steel industry. For more than 20 years, Design Data has pioneered industry innovations, such as downloading data directly into automated machines and exchanging steel models among software products. SDS was the first automated steel detailing product in the industry and the first to automatically design connections. Design Data is based in Lincoln, Nebraska.
