NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2002
Further solidifying its leadership position in the healthcare electronics Manufacturing Process Management marketplace, Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: TCNO), today announced Agfa HealthCare as the newest market leader to choose eMPower(TM) solutions from Tecnomatix Unicam, Inc. Agfa HealthCare, a division of the Agfa-Gevaert Group, is the de facto European market leader in medical image management - providing conventional x-ray equipment and an innovative range of diagnostic and communications tools to customers worldwide. Tecnomatix Unicam is a subsidiary of Tecnomatix Technologies.
Agfa has chosen to deploy eMPower PCB Assembly and Test solutions at sites in Belgium and Germany as a means to harmonize its prototyping and production processes. These market leading solutions allow electronics manufacturers to shorten product time-to-market, and reduce costs and downtime - making it easier for engineers to collaboratively define the designs of factories, assembly lines, and product layout details such as panels and circuits.
Since Agfa HealthCare needed to generate data at multiple locations to manage its electronics manufacturing process, the company required a highly flexible solution. eMPower PCB Assembly and Test solutions enabled Agfa to place data (such as CAD design files) at separate prototyping and mass production machines, providing a greater degree of independence from development and improved flexibility in the event of production environment changes.
"When we first launched our harmonization project, our key demand was a solution that could act as a universal platform to handle the disparity among our different CAD tools and output processors at different machines and multiple locations," said Georg Noescher, Manager CAD-electronic and technical database, Agfa Gevaert AG. "eM-Assembly Expert was the only solution flexible enough to meet our needs - giving us the ability to effectively link our prototyping and production environments."
"When we introduced eM-Assembly Expert as part of our eMPower PCB Assembly and Test solution set, our goal was to provide an integrated platform that would allow our customers to extend product lifecycles, help reduce development costs and boost profitability," said Israel Levy, chief executive officer of Tecnomatix Unicam, Inc. "This vote of confidence from Agfa HealthCare - the world's leading medical image management company - is proof that today's leading electronics manufacturers are now realizing the tremendous value our MPM solutions bring to the table."
Agfa HealthCare currently has eM-Assembly Expert deployed at its prototyping location in Mortsel and production center in PeiBenberg. The company is also planning to rollout further process harmonization projects between multiple design areas within the next several months using eMPower PCB Assembly and Test.
