SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2002

Ascentry Technologies, provider of wireless technology that extends physical security into the mobile world, announced it has completed a co-marketing agreement with Xybernaut(R) (NASDAQ: XYBR) in a co-marketing partnership.

This means customers considering the purchase of either Xybernaut wearable computing devices or Ascentry wireless network software could fully integrate it with the other, as a way to enhance and extend a physical security infrastructure.

Ascentry also announced it will serve as a value-added reseller (VAR) for Xybernaut devices. The relationship and VAR agreement are non-exclusive and effective immediately.

"Xybernaut wearable computing technologies are a tremendous enhancement to the mobile security network that our technology enables," said Ora Williamson, vice president of business development at Ascentry. "Our technology lets security personnel get critical data, such as closed-circuit TV feeds, while they're on the move, and Xybernaut's robust wearable devices give them that data with even greater mobility. That brings yet another level of effectiveness and efficiency to a security operation."

"Ascentry software and Xybernaut devices together are a natural fit for physical security," said Edward G. Newman, chairman, president and CEO Xybernaut. "Xybernaut has a strong heritage of success in intelligence and military applications. We look forward to working with Ascentry to replicate and extend this success in the areas of security and homeland defense. Our technologies are compatible and complementary, customers of either company will receive tremendous value by integrating both company's products in their physical security infrastructure."

Ascentry technology creates a wireless physical security network that enables security data to be accessed and controlled by mobile devices. This network can plug into an existing physical security infrastructure, or enable a standalone, quick-deployed system at any location.

Using this wireless network, security personnel can access and control data from a variety of sources, such as closed-circuit television (CCTV), audio, fire alarms, and more, over mobile devices. Xybernaut provides a powerful wearable computer, small enough to be worn on a belt clip, that gives security personnel full access and control of necessary data, while enabling hands-free mobility.
