HOLLYWOOD--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 2002

Intermec Technologies Corp. this week formally introduced its new 700 Series Color handheld computer to an audience of more than 600 customers and value-added resellers at its annual customer event.

It is the first official public showing of Intermec's new rugged computer, based on Microsoft(R)'s popular Pocket PC(R) 2002 operating system. The unit will be available commercially beginning in the third quarter of 2002.

Based on the Intel(R) PXA250 processor with Intel(R) XScale(TM) technology, the new 700 Color operates at clock speeds of up to 400MHz. for exceptional applications performance including full-motion video, digital image capture and integrated 2D bar code imaging. The unit's 3.8-inch (97 mm) reflective TFT display is 20 percent larger than most other devices on the market, important for better viewing of graphical applications. A 14.4 watt-hour lithium-ion battery delivers up to 10 hours of battery life between recharging.

The 17-ounce 700 Color is the first to integrate three different wireless radios in the same unit: 802.11b WiFi for local area wireless networking, a choice of GSM/GPRS or CDMA 1XRTT for wide-area networking, and Bluetooth(R) for cable-free connectivity with peripheral devices such as portable printers or cell phones.

"When designing with Intel(R) XScale(TM) technology, being wireless no longer means users have to give up performance for data applications," said Mark Casey, director of marketing for Intel's PCA Components Group. "Devices powered by the new Intel(R) PXA250 processor, like the Intermec 700 Series Color PocketPC, can reach higher levels of performance while reducing overall system power and increasing functionality."
