SIGNAL to Support IT Infrastructure of all U.S. Senate Offices on
Capitol Hill and in 450 U.S. Senate State Offices Across America
SIGNAL Corporation, a leading information technology and engineering & management services company, today announced it has been awarded a five year contract with an expected value of $100 million through the United States Senate Sergeant At Arms to provide computer help desk support, IT installation and maintenance, and acquisition and inventory for hardware and software for all U.S. Senate offices on Capitol Hill and in 450 field offices across the U.S.
"We are honored to have been awarded this prestigious contract. It is a testament to the world-class service provided by SIGNAL employees and our partners," said Roger Mody, SIGNAL President and CEO. "We clearly recognize the importance of the work in front of us and have assembled a team of the best and brightest who are excited to begin supporting the U.S. Senate's critical infrastructure."
With 9,000 PCs and 1,000 servers nationwide, speed and efficiency in IT support response are crucial to the smooth functioning of the U.S. Senate's network. The state-of-the-art help desk system will be manned by SIGNAL and will use a vast array of automated support tools and detailed procedure lists to resolve IT problems in just one call. Both SIGNAL and sub-contractor, Hewlett-Packard Company, will handle installation of new equipment. Interstate Van Lines will assist with the inventory and transportation services.
HP will provide dispatched on-site support at all Senate locations. "HP Services is excited at the prospect of supporting the infrastructure needs of the U.S. Senate with a leadership partner like SIGNAL," said Ralph Lipizzi, head of HP Services Public Sector markets. "With broad geographic service coverage and detailed knowledge of the U.S. Senate infrastructure gained from earlier engagements, we're ready to meet the demanding service-level agreements required of the SIGNAL team."
In addition to SIGNAL providing a full range of IT services, the contract also provides for expansion into optional areas of work including: local area network design, threat and vulnerability analysis, network performance monitoring, security, and a variety of systems administration.
The contract was awarded for a base year and five option years with work slated to begin on June 1, 2002.
