DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 2002

Award-Winning Lotus Accelerator Software Provides Compression Savings, Enabling the Multinational Company to Maximize Bandwidth and Personnel

Stampede Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of accelerator software for IBM Lotus Notes(R) and IBM Lotus Domino(TM) enterprises, today announced that SPX Corporation (NYSE: SPW), a $5 billion global provider of technical products and systems, industrial products and services, flow technology and service solutions, is successfully using TurboGold to improve the performance of Lotus' knowledge management products. By accelerating Lotus' collaboration tools throughout its global organization, TurboGold allows SPX to dramatically reduce its network bandwidth requirements and increase its employees' productivity.

"Competitive companies such as SPX Corporation rely on Lotus' collaborative e-business solutions to bridge people and knowledge," said Gordon L. Dorworth, president and CEO of Stampede Technologies. "TurboGold continues to help companies, like SPX, to boost performance, reduce traffic and increase bandwidth across their entire network. The savings achieved in both time and bandwidth improve productivity, while extending the life of the infrastructure and making their entire operation more efficient and cost effective."

SPX, which doubled in size last year due to acquisition, recently embarked on a sweeping operational transformation fueled by the Lotus CEO Business Collaboration Bundle. The company is using the knowledge management tools both at the corporate level and within each of its business units to establish greater efficiency. In addition to IBM Lotus Notes and IBM Lotus Domino e-mail and calendar applications, employees share presentation slides during teleconferences using IBM Lotus Sametime. Others swap project documentation with IBM Lotus QuickPlace.

To reduce the amount of administration and manage their rapid growth more efficiently, SPX switched from a de-centralized model of 44 Windows NT Domino severs to a centralized model of two IBM AS400 Domino servers. Even though the company was planning to encourage all users to create and maintain local copies of their data, they knew that the end points (server and client) were farther apart and would therefore require more bandwidth than its previous de-centralized model.

"We purchased TurboGold for our entire global infrastructure including both AS400 Domino servers and 12,000 clients," said Pete Sattler, CIO of SPX Corporation. "To date we have experienced compression savings that will allow us to significantly reduce our bandwidth requirements, and speed up replication for our mobile workforce. Saving this vast amount of bandwidth allows SPX to maximize our investment in Lotus' knowledge management products and improve the overall productivity of our employees."
