Automation and better management of the enterprise with Business Process Management (BPM) technology will be the subject of Webinars May 21-23 by industry analyst Hurwitz Group and BPM vendor Metastorm.
Hosted by Tyler McDaniel, director of application strategies at Hurwitz, the sessions offer executives an overview of how BPM:
- limits the resources spent on paper-based, time-intensive and routine processes so staff can focus on the activities for which they were hired - extends the enterprise with a new level of automation that is overlooked by ERP, CRM and other technologies - improves the competitiveness of companies with enhanced productivity, and the service levels of governments by refocusing them on their missions.
According to McDaniel, BPM is most applicable 1) in Human Resources because of the multiple procedures for hiring and managing staff, 2) in the Finance department due to processes such as approving purchase orders and travel expenses, and 3) in government for improving citizen services.
"BPM solutions enable enterprises to squeeze operational costs from bloated processes, and to co-ordinate more efficiently the people, applications, and data involved that ultimately improve the workings of the business," McDaniel says in his 2002 paper, 'Technology for the 21st Century Human Resources Department'.
In his report "The 10 Pillars of Business Process Management," McDaniel concludes that "Having a cohesive solution to pull together processes, model and understand them, integrate and automate them, manage and optimize them, will make any enterprise more successful. BPM solutions yield strategic insurance for a highly optimized enterprise."
The series begins with the first Webinar on Tuesday, May 21, at 10 am EDT. The second is May 22 at noon EDT, and the third is May 23 at 3 pm EDT. Participants, including members of the media, can register at http://www.metastorm.com/events/overview_index.asp.
