SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 2002
SkyRiver Communications Inc., a wireless broadband network provider of competitive high speed Internet access, today announced Trent S. Anderson has joined the company as chief executive officer.
Anderson's arrival will allow current President and CEO Lee M. Gopadze to focus on SkyRiver's deployment and operations while Anderson directs the overall activities of the company. Gopadze will remain as SkyRiver's president overseeing SkyRiver's expansion.
Anderson has spent his entire career in the telecom industry. Anderson has significant experience in all aspects of telecom operations including sales, marketing, distribution and network operations with both start-up carriers and established voice and data providers.
Until April 2002 Anderson was senior vice president and general manager for the Oregon Division of Integra Telecom. While with Integra Telecom, Anderson and his team grew the Oregon Region (the largest of Integra's regions) by approximately 500% over the past four years and exceeded all significant operating metrics including achieving positive EBITDA. Integra Telecom is a facilities-based, integrated communications provider based in Beaverton, Ore.
Prior to joining Integra, Anderson was regional vice president of data sales with Electric Lightwave Inc., where he successfully developed and implemented the company's expansion of its data network into 13 new markets.
Anderson also spent over six years with MCI Telecommunications Inc., where he served in a series of increasingly responsible positions including branch service manager for the Pacific Northwest Region, and ultimately branch general manager for the state of Oregon, responsible for mid-market and large account sales and customer service in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Anderson holds a BS degree in management from Oregon State University.
In announcing Anderson's hiring, Jake Peters, SkyRiver's chairman of the board, stated, "We now have an extremely strong management team combining solid sales and distribution experience with proven deployment and network operations experience. Trent's ability to successfully and rapidly grow an operation while providing terrific customer focus bodes well for SkyRiver. We are thrilled that Trent has joined our team."
SkyRiver has been growing quickly. The company recently announced an expansion of coverage in San Diego County to extend its wireless broadband coverage to approximately 75 percent of San Diego County. In April 2002, SkyRiver deployed its second commercial broadband business network in San Bernardino County, Calif. covering the cities of Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Colton and other nearby communities. Shortly thereafter SkyRiver was awarded a five-year contract to provide high speed data communications to the city of Ontario linking 22 city buildings, including police and fire stations, libraries and the museum.
