DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2002
Liteye Systems of Littleton, Colo., and IBM Corp. have entered a license agreement with IBM for lightweight, high-resolution head-mounted displays that Liteye plans to manufacture for many computer applications.
"This agreement marks a technological leap forward for head-mounted displays and wearable computing," says Kenneth Geyer, vice president of development for Liteye Systems. "The blending of IBM's cutting-edge design with our unique display abilities will lead to the availability of superior heads-up displays. We're excited about the opportunity to integrate IBM technologies into our offerings."
IBM's proprietary technologies will be combined with Liteye's high-resolution display capabilities. The result will be a sleeker, smaller and lightweight headset. Liteye head-mounted display units can be attached to flight helmets, combat helmets and hardhats in addition to wearable computers. They can display everything from a computer screen to infrared video images.
Liteye microdisplay units provide superior image quality, FOV (field of view) and contrast while greatly reducing physical size, weight and power consumption. Liteye's heads-up displays are designed to work with thermal imagers, wearable computers, and NTSC/PAL video sources.
