LONG BEACH, Calif. & FORT WAYNE, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2002
STAR Financial Bank, a regional community bank headquartered in Fort Wayne, has obtained the EZPayManager payment management system from ACOM Solutions, Inc., Long Beach, and has begun executing its customers' online bill payment transactions in-house, rather than through a third-party service, it was announced today by Glenn Bogan, vice president of electronic delivery, and Gregory T. Church, ACOM's vice president of marketing, communications and product management.
STAR Financial bank is an Indiana-based community bank that operates banking centers throughout the state, with concentrations in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Marion, Kokomo, Muncie, Anderson, and New Castle. The bank initiated online bill payment for its customers in 1999.
EZPayManager is a scalable, modular total payment management solution for printing MICR laser checks on blank safety check stock, electronic payments through the banking industry's ACH network or by Financial EDI, and providing notifications of payment -- the stub information -- by paper copy, fax, electronic mail with and without PDF attachments, and by e-mailing secure PDF notices.
To pay bills online, customers simply access the bank's website, which is running an Internet Banking application developed by Q-Up, and complete the bill payment request. STAR Financial retrieves the requests and forwards them to EZPayManager, which makes the payment by check or ACH.
"Bringing this service in-house will result in dramatically improved service to our banking customers at the same time it generates significant savings for the bank," Bogan said. "Whenever third parties are involved, you lose control of the process as soon as you transfer it. By performing our own online banking transactions, we retain total control, and accelerate the process. For example, if a customer orders an online payment by 4:00 p.m., that payment is normally on its way to the payee, either electronically or through US Mail, by 5:00."
