Axolotl Corporation, a leading provider of Web-based health information management products and services, today announced the release of the Elysium Usage Analyzer. This HIPAA audit tool, already in use by hospitals in the greater Cincinnati area, monitors compliance with HIPAA regulations and tracks access and usage patterns of patients' clinical data by physician communities.
The Elysium Usage Analyzer generates reports and graphs to document who accesses patient information, when, and from where. As Elysium Clinical Messaging aggregates patient data from multiple sources for automated distribution and management, the Usage Analyzer provides a comprehensive audit of all patient data access. Usage reports can be sorted by patient, provider and job role -- allowing for irregular use to be easily identified.
"This new tool provides a much needed mechanism for our privacy officers to audit patient information access, track patterns of usage, as well as monitor performance," says Robert Steffel, CEO of HealthBridge, a not-for-profit healthcare organization serving the Greater Cincinnati healthcare community. "Tracking and documenting access to patient data is a critical component of our HIPAA compliance initiative. Being able to audit all clinical results delivered, regardless of delivery method (electronic, fax, or print), through one reporting tool is key," Steffel continued.
"HealthBridge has been using Elysium to automate medical record management, workflow, and communication within its community for over three years. Axolotl is committed to working with our customers to develop tools and services that meet their needs, such as the ability to fulfill Disclosure History and Protected Health Information Audit requirements mandated by HIPAA with just a few clicks of a mouse," commented Ray Scott, CEO, Axolotl Corp.
