PSC Awarded Preferred Supplier Contract for Leclerc; Premier French Retail Chain To Adopt Magellan 8200 "Smart" Scanner

PSC Inc. (PSCX. OB), a global provider of integrated data collection products and services for the retail supply chain, today announced it has signed a major contract with Infomil, point-of-sale integrator for Leclerc, one of France's premier retail chains. PSC will be the preferred supplier of fixed in-counter scanners for Leclerc.

The contract will include approximately 12,000 Magellan(R) 8200 scanners over the next five years. Infomil will install the "smart" scanners into 500 Leclerc supermarkets and hypermarkets as well as additional new stores. The installations will be completed in conjunction with a new POS system Infomil is rolling out throughout the retail chain beginning the first quarter of 2003.

The Magellan 8200 combines slim-line compact form and 360-degree scanning with the "smart" data collection and processing technology of the Magellan 8500. It also reads the new RSS bar codes, which are expected to appear on perishables in the near future and which can save retailers millions of dollars per year. With its FirstStrike(TM) intelligent decoding software, the Magellan 8200 is able to read poor-quality and truncated bar code labels. Additionally, the scanner's patented All-Weighs(TM) scale platter can significantly reduce produce shrinkage.
