SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 2002

BrandDefense takes over the time-consuming process and paperwork of

registering websites with the U.S. Copyright office and updates

filings as web content changes

BrandDefense (www.branddefense.com) announced today the launch of their new service, which simplifies and expedites the process of getting websites copyrighted. BrandDefense handles the process and paperwork of getting clients' websites registered with the U.S. Copyright office, files updates as a company needs them, and provides lasting archives of websites on CDs.

"While the Internet provides easy access to information, it also makes it incredibly easy to lift content from websites," said Sheridan Chambers, president of BrandDefense. "That's why it's imperative for companies to legally protect their online intellectual property, which can cover everything from terms a high-tech company has coined itself to slogans and marketing material on a retail store's website."

BrandDefense simplifies the process of legally copyrighting a website by acting as an agent and filing all of the necessary paperwork for clients. Once the registration has been approved, the Copyright Office mails the copyright certificate directly back to the client.

A One Time or a Subscription Service

BrandDefense can copyright a website just one time or can file regular updates with the U.S. Copyright Office as online content changes. The price for a one time copyright filing and registration is $345; updates are priced at $245 quarterly or $195 monthly. Frequencies of filings can also be customized, depending on individual needs.

"Companies invest so much time and money in putting together their website, it only makes sense that they should also invest in protecting it, especially when they can do so at just a fraction of the cost," said Dan Cornell, chief technology officer at BrandDefense. "Not protecting a website is risky - imagine spending time and energy getting materials online, only to find someone else had stolen the content and legally copyrighted it themselves."

While anyone can claim their rights to material, a work is not fully protected until it has been registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. Because BrandDefense copyright experts are well versed in all the paperwork and procedures associated with copyright registrations, they speed up the registration process and eliminate the hassles associated with trying to do it independently.

Additional Services Add Value

BrandDefense snapshots all website content, and a working archive of the site is burned onto CD and shipped to the client or stored offsite, if preferred. Archives can be updated monthly, providing a lasting record of any changes that have been made to the site.

BrandDefense also has an authorized resellers program and works with hosting companies, web developers, and creative firms who want to resell BrandDefense's proprietary website copyrighting product to their own customers.
