CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2002
OpenInvoice(TM) allows operators and suppliers to submit, validate,
route, code, approve and track every invoice online to reduce time
and costs associated with invoicing and field ticket processing
Anadarko Canada Corporation, Digital Oilfield Inc., EnCana Corporation and Nexen Inc. today announced that, as of September 1, they are receiving and approving invoices in a live production environment, using Digital Oilfield's OpenInvoice Internet-based solution to automate and improve invoicing and field ticket reconciliation processes. The three leading E&P companies are collaboratively implementing and deploying the OpenInvoice platform in their Western Canadian field operations.
"Digital Oilfield's technology is an important part of our strategy," commented Hayward Walls, EnCana's chief information officer. "We have been able to see results within a matter of months of the deal and have already transacted with a broad range of suppliers, from very small to very large."
According to Rod Munro, president and CEO of Digital Oilfield Inc., "We are very pleased with the way Anadarko, EnCana, Nexen and Digital Oilfield are working together. Together we are leveraging the power of these three large independents to jointly plan and roll-out OpenInvoice to their operations." Munro continued," We are also working closely with other E&P companies and their suppliers to deliver technology and processes that meet the needs of the global energy market and are well on our way to establishing this platform as the industry standard."
"Implementing OpenInvoice has improved our business workflow processes by integrating directly into our accounts payable system," commented Robert Austin, director of information technology for Anadarko Canada. "This seamless field-ticket to ERP system process has allowed us to capture spend data right down to the line item, as well as to significantly reduce professional staff time that is better utilized elsewhere."
The companies work together to educate and train suppliers on the OpenInvoice system and assist them with their workflow processes.
"The group works closely with us to provide service and support addressing our specific issues. The system has made it possible for our customers to pay invoices in a more timely manner," said Patty Berg, manager, Accounts Receivable, Precision Drilling Corporation. "The group has worked with each of us (suppliers) to ensure our requirements are fulfilled."
"This is a win-win for both suppliers and operating companies, as both sides benefit from a more efficient invoice process," said Grant Utas, director, Procurement, Nexen Inc. "Because of the great response from both groups, we have plans to significantly increase on-ramping of suppliers and accelerate our roll-out schedule."
Using OpenInvoice, E&P companies and their vendors collaboratively create and manage field tickets and invoices to eliminate up to 80 percent of the internal processing time and cost associated with invoice approval. This powerful workflow tool, specifically designed for upstream operations, frees up professional staff time and gives E&P managers instant access to detailed spending and operating information.
