New York's Consolidated Edison Wins "Energy Company of the Year" at Platts/BusinessWeek Global Energy Awards; Global Energy Company BP's Chief Executive Wins "CEO of the Year"

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2002
New York's Consolidated Edison Company won "Energy Company of the Year" yesterday evening in recognition of its extraordinary work to restore New York's energy service following September 11, 2001 and continued efforts into 2002.
The awards were given out at the 2002 Platts/BusinessWeek Global Energy Awards.
Social awareness and corporate growth were also recognized as the chief executive officer of global energy corporation BP plc, Lord Browne of Madingley, was named "CEO of the Year" for his drive to create the seventh largest company in the world, while still focusing on employee development and environmental awareness.

The winners, which were announced at yesterday evening's gala celebration at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, included leading corporations from the coal, power, gas, oil and renewables industries. These companies, which have served as examples of excellence in the energy industry included:
