SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2002
Deersoft, Inc., the anti-spam software company, today announced the release of version 1.0.4 of SpamAssassin Enterprise(TM) 2003 spam filters for Microsoft(R) Exchange Server 2000. A Microsoft Exchange 2000 plug-in product, SpamAssassin Enterprise offers integrated system administration, end user fine-tuning and a typical catch rate of 95 percent of spam email. The product is already in use by hundreds of business and educational professionals, protecting employees and students from today's barrage of junk and offensive email.
"With an estimated cost of more than $8 billion per year in bandwidth charges alone, spam has become an enterprise problem that needs to be eradicated," said Gordon Kruberg, C.E.O of Deersoft. "SpamAssassin Enterprise filters are geared to take a large bite out of the 76 billion spam emails expected to be sent in 2003."
Installation and setup follows an automated process that is completed with ease by an Exchange Administrator, usually within an hour. Immediately following installation, SpamAssassin Enterprise spam filter diverts spam emails away from the intended recipient, working effectively at the best-practice default settings while allowing customization by the Administrator to meet specific requirements.
"SpamAssassin is a great example of leading edge open source technology being incorporated into commercial Windows-based products with a cost effective price point," said Craig Baltzer, V.P. of Engineering, Anjura Technology Corporation, a technology integration company. "This is especially good news for small to medium businesses that had incurred the ongoing cost of an outsourced anti-SPAM solution due to the high purchase price of competing solutions or the requirement to implement a non-Windows platform."
About SpamAssassin(TM) Enterprise
The SpamAssassin filter systems eliminate 90-98 percent of spam email. Built as a toolbox, SpamAssassin Enterprise filters use a wider range of methods than any other approach to fighting spam. Rather than classify an email as a "yes" or "no," SpamAssassin filters rate each piece of mail by conducting more than 750 tests on the sender, header, content, consistency, and timing of each email. Emails with spam ratings are sent to a user junk mail folder or, optionally, a server-based junk mail folder.
SpamAssassin Enterprise 2003 spam filters integrate well with Microsoft Exchange 2000. The Administrative interface provides for server-based adjustments to white-lists, black-lists, mapping, language and much more. White-lists are integrated with existing address books, and administration follows Microsoft guidelines. End users have the ability to edit personal white-lists and black-lists which further improves the performance of the system without causing additional system administrator maintenance efforts.
