PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2002

PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) today announced that organizations around the globe continue to adopt its award-winning Supply Chain Management (SCM) solutions. During the third quarter of 2002, more than 90 organizations licensed PeopleSoft SCM, and more than 60 customers deployed these solutions. Notable PeopleSoft SCM wins include: University of Florida; Cedars Sinai Health System; Safeway Stores plc; University of California; Pernod Ricard; National Grid USA; Commonwealth Bank of Australia; Perot Systems Corp.; State of Oklahoma and PETCO Animal Supplies, Inc.

"The year 2002 has been a nightmare for the supply chain technology market. PeopleSoft is one SCM application vendor that has been able to buck that trend," said Tim Minahan, vice president of supply chain research, Aberdeen Group. "While the SCM market was sleeping, PeopleSoft moved to center stage, investing heavily in research and development for its SCM products, including Supplier Relationship Management."

While customers continue to select from the breadth of PeopleSoft SCM solutions, the third quarter was particularly strong for its award-winning Supplier Relationship Management solutions. PETCO Animal Supplies, Inc., a leading specialty retailer of premium pet food and supplies with more than 600 neighborhood stores in 42 states, licensed PeopleSoft solutions to manage its procure-to-pay cycle. PeopleSoft provides PETCO with a single, web-based, spend-management solution that creates purchase orders and reusable purchase order templates. In addition, PETCO can use workflow rules to create purchasing checks and balances, and build consistent reports on supplier metrics to improve negotiation.

"We selected PeopleSoft because of its superior solutions and its position as an established long-term player in this market," said Russ Stover, director of expense management and special projects for PETCO. "PeopleSoft's efficient, intuitive approach will enable us to reduce cycle times and cut costs by consolidating purchase orders and sourcing more effectively."

PeopleSoft SCM solutions include Manufacturing, Supply Chain Planning, Customer Fulfillment Management, Supply Chain Analytics and Supplier Relationship Management. PeopleSoft Supplier Relationship Management's industry-specific solutions support the unique sourcing, procurement, spend management and supplier enablement requirements of the healthcare, government, financial services, energy, consumer products and high-technology industries.

"PeopleSoft's continued investment in SCM solutions for targeted industries is clearly paying off," said Pat Quirk, vice president and general manager, PeopleSoft Supply Chain Management. "Organizations are choosing PeopleSoft SCM to address their business challenges because of our deep industry expertise combined with our innovative solutions."
