BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 21, 2002
TOWER Technology, a leading provider of infrastructure software for high-volume document and content processing, today announced that Australia's New South Wales Police Service has selected TOWER IDM(TM) imaging and workflow technology to streamline the thousands of daily fines it processes.
The Infringement Processing Bureau (IPB) of the New South Wales Police Service intends to make parking fines and parking tickets harder to escape. TOWER IDM will streamline collection processes of more than 6,000 infringement tickets and 2,000 letters of correspondence each day. The ticket images will be managed automatically by the system to improve the efficiency of collecting outstanding fines.
The TOWER Document Portal will deliver ticket images to over 150 IPB employees who will now be able to access customer records immediately via a standard Web browser, greatly improving the ability to respond to customer inquiries and chase outstanding fines. FloWare(TM) workflow from Plexus will be key in transforming the processing of letters and in reducing the time taken to collect outstanding fines
"Using the TOWER Document Portal and FloWare, infringement notices are instantly available on the Internet for a number of issuing individuals including: police, parking patrols and local councils," said Noel Jones, managing director for TOWER Technology Australia. "The collection and payment process will be faster for all parties."
While traditional methods of communicating with the IPB will remain in place, the new system will allow members of the public to pay fines over the Web and submit inquiries and correspondence via e-mail.
"There is a clear direction on the part of the IPB to adopt technological alternatives to paper-based, manual processes," said Ian Rea, project manager at Infringement Management Processing System, "The TOWER IDM system will assist the Bureau in meeting Government directives to move certain functions out of Sydney."
The new system will initially concentrate on traffic penalties, however the system could be used for speed and red light camera offences in the future.
