MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 21, 2002

Across the United States SeaChange International, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: SEAC) video-on-demand (VOD) systems have been deployed by 14 Time Warner Cable, Inc. divisions and two other cable divisions, which will soon be part of the Advance/Newhouse group. All 16 locations are live with the Time Warner Cable iCONTROL service, providing movies-on-demand, subscription video-on-demand (SVOD), music-on-demand and tiers of free on-demand programming.

"SeaChange has the honor of being selected for the largest number of Time Warner Cable divisions and we're helping them to dramatically make television more personal," said Bill Styslinger, president and CEO, SeaChange International.

The Time Warner Cable divisions - all long-time SeaChange advertising system customers - represent diverse television markets including Austin, Texas; Albany, N.Y.; Bakersfield, Calif. (Advance/Newhouse); Binghamton, N.Y.; Birmingham, Ala. (Advance/Newhouse); Charlotte, N.C.; Desert Cities, Calif.; Kansas City, Mo.; Lincoln, Neb.; Portland, Maine; Raleigh and Fayetteville, N.C.; Rochester, N.Y.; San Antonio, Texas; Shreveport, La.; Syracuse, N.Y.; and Waco, Texas. Subscribers in these markets enjoy a full slate of on-demand programming, including multiple Hollywood movie categories and SVOD services from HBO, Showtime and Cinemax.

Time Warner Cable's free on-demand offering is stunningly rich. It encompasses feature programs and series episodes from A&E's Biography Channel, BBC America, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, CNN, DIY, Food Network, The Golf Channel and HGTV, as well as a library of music-on-demand.

"VOD is cable's unique opportunity to give consumers the ultimate in choice, convenience and quality in television. iCONTROL makes a digital two-way connection with subscribers and backs it with our local customer service - things the competition can't do for consumers," Stacy Schmitt, director of public affairs for Time Warner Cable's Waco Division.

George Douglas, vice president of sales and marketing for Time Warner Cable's Raleigh Division said, "People who experience VOD for the first time are amazed by what their television can do. Forget those trips to the video store because iCONTROL features recent and constantly refreshed titles from television networks and movie studios. Plus, we have the flexibility to get creative and offer on-demand content with a local slant, like the `Wedding-On-Demand' we featured this past Summer for a very popular Raleigh celebrity."

Brian Cecere, vice president of sales and marketing for Time Warner Cable's Lincoln Division said, "SeaChange's on-site support went beyond just the technical. Their VOD truck, with its built-in headend and over-sized plasma screens, supplied our iCONTROL launch event with a visually dramatic focal point. It captured the attention of our local media and further supported the sophisticated nature of VOD technology and Time Warner Cable's expertise in its deployment."

SeaChange embarked on the `VOD Experience Tour' to help cable market VOD to their constituents. Featuring VOD demonstrations running on SeaChange servers and a variety of digital settops, SeaChange's All-Television Vehicle has been the centerpiece of Time Warner Cable divisions' events for consumers, advertisers, government officials and regional media. To date, the tour has made stops in dozens of cities from coast to coast and has logged over 30,000 miles.

The profile of the Time Warner Cable divisions using SeaChange gear varies widely, including subscriber counts, deployment infrastructure and digital settop boxes. In many Time Warner Cable locations VOD systems are running in unmanned cable hubs, with integrated software enabling remote monitoring and management. The full lifecycle of a video asset is automated, from the time a new movie or program is propagated across hubs and servers until the expiration of the studio contract.

Cable Chooses SeaChange

SeaChange VOD systems deliver hundreds of thousands of on-demand streams for North America's largest cable operators including Adelphia, AT&T Comcast, Cablevision, Cox, Insight, Mediacom, Time Warner Cable and Rogers. In diverse settings employing a wide range of digital settops, electronic program guides and network gear, SeaChange is providing an expanding array of pragmatic on-demand services. Much more than Hollywood movies, millions of cable subscribers can experience local news and sports on-demand, subscription VOD and broadcast network programming on-demand with compelling advertising alternatives.

Leveraging Emmy Award-winning MediaCluster video server technology and Command Center management software, SeaChange's systems provide the most economical content storage and video stream density in the industry.
