QAS wanted to boost corporate intranet use across its worldwide offices by removing redundant content and eliminating time-consuming systems administration. The company also needed to de-centralise the publishing process and raise the intranet's profile as a business critical information tool. Following a competitive market evaluation, QAS selected the Stellent Content Management system.
"Stellent is a professional company possessing a leadership position in the marketplace, innovative technology and knowledgeable personnel," said Simon Skilling, intranet team leader for QAS Limited. "The Stellent Content Management system gave us a rapidly implemented solution for our current and future requirements. Not only does it take users less than a minute to publish documents to the Web, but we've also seen a huge increase in stored content and daily intranet usage across the whole organisation. The intranet team can now concentrate on other technical developments rather than document publishing. The true business personalisation is also a great benefit, as it has helped us reduce internal email traffic."
"QAS is one of the UK's fastest growing companies and is now expanding internationally. Making sure all employees can publish and access up-to-date information quickly, regardless of their location, is essential," said Bryan Richter, vice president of Europe, Middle Eastern and African operations for Stellent. "QAS required a highly scalable business information solution to cope with the growth in employee numbers, overseas locations, markets and revenues. By using Stellent Content Management technology to power its corporate intranet in an easy yet controlled way, QAS can now focus its resources on global business expansion."
Stellent also provided QAS with professional services including consulting, implementation and training, as well as introductory and advanced systems administration courses. In QAS' implementation, Stellent Content Server and Stellent Content Publisher run under Microsoft Windows 2000 on a networked Compaq DL380 server with a RAID disk array and a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database. The company's future plans for the Stellent technology include Internet publishing; online staff holiday and sickness forms; expanded online product information; and the scanning of paper records.
