PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 2002
New functionality, only available in Logidex, allows enterprise application development teams to quickly learn Web services architectures, patterns and frameworks
LogicLibrary, a leading provider of software and services that get companies started with Web services, is now shipping the latest release of Logidex, a software development asset (SDA) discovery and mapping engine that uses active design(TM) to link business processes to software components. New Web services-enablement features available in Logidex 1.4 include an asset viewer and integration with single sign-on (SSO) authentication servers.
LogicLibrary Logidex maps relationships between SDAs, including XML schemas, software components, legacy applications and associated documentation, and a company's technical and business models. Software developers, architects and business analysts can search the created SDA Library using the Logidex discovery engine. The discovery engine offers capabilities ranging from simple keyword searches to sophisticated, model-based searches. When a search is run, SDAs are identified and scored according to their `fit' with the specified business and technical requirements. The discovery engine significantly reduces the time required to build high-quality Web services applications and/or extend legacy environments.
The new Logidex asset viewer provides users with a graphical, intuitive mechanism for quickly understanding Web services architectures, patterns and frameworks, and the software components that underlie them. These architectures can include those developed internally by the customer, as well as third-party frameworks created for use in application design and development. As customers move from learning about Web services to developing them, users can employ more powerful Logidex capabilities that support team collaboration, SDA acquisition and ongoing management of the Web services development environment.
"The release of Logidex 1.4 demonstrates our continued commitment to providing IT organizations with the tools they need to realize the vision of Web services enablement," said Gregory Coticchia, CEO, LogicLibrary. "With these new features, application development teams can quickly and cost-effectively get started enabling their existing enterprise applications as Web services and can continue to build out and maintain their Web services over time."
Logidex 1.4 also includes integration with single sign-on servers, so users accessing Logidex through a development portal, integrated development environment, or other application development tool, do not need to log into Logidex separately.
"Web services have the potential to enable an entirely new class of organization--the agile enterprise. Yet, in order to get this major benefit, companies have to get a better grasp of their existing system assets," says Ronald Schmelzer, senior analyst at ZapThink, LLC. "Businesses must progress from simply knowing the availability and location of assets to getting a firmer grasp of how each asset fits into their particular business needs. LogicLibrary's model-based approach to utilizing software assets is a key ingredient to meeting these needs thereby providing efficient development of Web services."
