BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 2002

InfoSpace Web Search experienced more than eight percent growth, the

largest increase in traffic of any top-10 search entity tracked from

May-September

Since launching its next generation meta-search product in May, InfoSpace Web Search traffic has grown by more than eight percent - more than any other top-10 search entity from May-September, according to comScore Media Metrix, the standard in Internet behavioral measurement. (September 2002 data)

InfoSpace's meta-search technology, which is found at Excite (www.excite.com), Dogpile (www.dogpile.com), WebCrawler (www.webcrawler.com) and MetaCrawler (www.metacrawler.com), allows users to search multiple search engines at once, returning more comprehensive and relevant results fast.

"We're very encouraged by comScore Media Metrix's data. Over the past year we have refocused our Wireline efforts on search and retooled our technology and search sites significantly," said York Baur, executive vice president, wireline and broadband of InfoSpace, Inc. (Nasdaq:INSP), a provider of wireless and Internet software and applications services. "Today, more than ever, we believe that the value proposition of meta-search is compelling for consumers. There are billions of Web pages on the Internet and growing. No one search engine can keep up with this growth, which makes meta-search an ideal vehicle to search more of the Web."

Designed to deliver the most applicable results at the right time, InfoSpace's next generation meta-search product identifies the intent of a user's search. Because various search engines return better results for different types of queries, InfoSpace's proprietary meta- search algorithm sorts the results accordingly and then displays a blended mix of highly relevant commercial and non-commercial results for a given search.
