VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 2002
Infowave Software (TSX:IW), a provider of wireless software for mobile professionals, corporations and network operators announced today the availability of the Workgroup Edition of Infowave Mobile Messaging in November - a wireless software solution that enables up to fifteen mobile users to instantly access their corporate e-mail and calendar using any wireless Pocket PC(TM) 2002 or Palm(TM) OS device on virtually any wireless network. Infowave Mobile Messaging (IMM) Workgroup Edition offers the same broad range of features as the Infowave Mobile Messaging, Corporate Edition that was launched in September 2002, with added simplicity for work-groups. IMM Workgroup Edition installs as a service on a single desktop within the workgroup and does not require any installation, administration or maintenance assistance from IT. This allows small and medium sized businesses or a single department to adopt a wireless email solution independently.
The solution offers mobile access to Microsoft(R) Exchange and allows users to send and receive e-mail and schedule appointments just as if they were sitting at their desk. IMM Workgroup Edition provides end-users with freedom of choice and flexibility by offering customers a wireless solution that supports a range of Pocket PC and Palm devices, including integrated mobile phone/PDAs on virtually any wireless network.
"IMM Workgroup Edition provides an opportunity for small businesses and corporate departments to have wireless email capabilities without waiting for their organizations to adopt and deploy an enterprise-wide wireless solution," said Bill Tam, Infowave's Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing. "The solution is designed for turnkey service activation and provides for a user-friendly, simple to install solution that works behind the company's secure firewall, but does not tax IT personnel or require special permissions from the corporate Microsoft Exchange Server."
The addition of IMM Workgroup Edition completes Infowave's wireless software solution offerings for mobile professionals, departments, corporations and network operators. IMM Workgroup Edition is available to network operators as part of the suite of solutions powered by the Infowave Mobile Application Gateway, a services platform designed to offer wireless access to corporate information.
"IMM Workgroup Edition is an exciting new product in our broad portfolio of wireless solutions," said Sal Visca, Infowave's Chief Technology Officer. "It is an important offering that now completes a smooth upgrade path from a single user solution to a workgroup offering to a large scale wireless email solution to a full enterprise-grade platform enabling wireless access to many corporate applications. Infowave's years of experience in this market has allowed us to provide one of the broadest, most compelling wireless product suites in the industry."
