2003 International CES Houses the World's Largest Home Theater Show; CES Spotlights the Best in Home Entertainment Technology, Training and Education

The 2003 International CES again will serve as the world's largest home theater show as major video, audio and home networking companies showcase the latest developments in DTV, high-end audio, DVD players, DVRs, surround sound, video-on-demand, electronic gaming and other home theater products.

"Home theater systems provide a valuable entertainment outlet that is enjoyable for the whole family," said Jeff Joseph, vice president of communications for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the producer of CES. "And this year's CES showcases home theater products that not only entertain, but provide new levels of quality and convenience for almost every budget and taste."

As a lynchpin product category at CES, the entire ground level of the South Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center is dedicated to home theater and home networking technology. More than 1800 exhibitors fill the South 1 and 2 Halls including industry leaders Runco, Faroudja, Denon, Marantz, Audio Products, Meridian, Audio Plus, Dolby, Echostar and Monster Cable.

With home theaters as a key focal point of the show, the main registration for CES has been moved to the back of these halls. All shuttle buses will stop first at the back of the South Hall before circling the rest of the convention center.

Home theater technology also takes center stage at several CES pavilions. The Digital Hollywood Pavilion will enlighten attendees on the latest developments in digital rights, subscription services, home networks, digital home entertainment and Interactive TV, while the Xtreme Entertainment Pavilion invites attendees to experience cutting-edge electronic gaming and digital audio and video. CEA's TechHome Demo and TechHome Pavilion brings together home networking, home theater and home office technology to show off the products and capabilities of today's advanced homes. TechHome features tools that increase efficiency and conserve energy in the living room, bedroom, utility room and recreation room.

In addition, CEA's own ThunderDorm, a plexiglass-encased mock-up of the ideal dorm room, makes an appearance at CES to present the ultimate in college living. Equipped with the latest in DVD players, MP3 players, DTV, electronic gaming, speakers and surround sound, ThunderDorm is located in the lower level of the LVCC South Hall, booth #19117.

Whether it's showcasing two-channel audio or multichannel audio, the International CES is also home to the world's largest high-end audio tradeshow, with more than 250 exhibitors at the Alexis Park Resort.
