NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 2002
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has announced the expansion of their product portfolio to include Network Appliance's new FAS900 series as part of the existing European distribution agreement for Network Appliance's enterprise network storage solutions. The new NetApp(R) FAS900 series can be deployed in a wide range of data-intensive applications, regardless of the data access method used. Providing the NetApp FAS900 Series means that Fujitsu Siemens Computers now offers organizations even more flexibility when implementing and expanding IT infrastructures.
The FAS900 Series provides customers with the same high availability, performance, scalability, and management ease as all Network Appliance systems. The models being launched include the FAS940 with a storage capacity of up to 9TB and the FAS960 with a capacity of up to 24TB in connection with an upcoming release of the operating system Data ONTAP(TM). Both systems are also available as clusters with a capacity of 18 or 48TB, respectively. The maximum throughput performance also represents a clear improvement on that of the preceding F800 Series models.
"Nowadays, organizations no longer regard technical details as playing a decisive role, but rather storage solutions which are scalable and adaptable to business demands, while reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) and increasing the return on investment," explained Helmut Beck, Vice President of Storage, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "With the FAS900 Series as part of our product offering, we are able to offer our customers even more options when selecting storage management solutions, which is, for us, a great benefit."
"Enterprises are now demanding storage solutions which are best suited to their specific application requirements," said Mark Santora, senior vice president of marketing at Network Appliance. "As of today, we not only offer the most comprehensive range of products for different kinds of business data, but also a unified storage solution in the form of the FAS900 Series, which supports both block and file protocols for a wide range of customer applications."
