SANDY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2002
Callware Technologies Inc. announced today the initial release of Callegra .UC ver. 1.0, a new product line bringing Unified Communication and Messaging (UCM) functionality to enterprise applications through Microsoft's .NET and XML Web services. The new release, developed under the code-name Alaska, features a robust Web services development environment leveraging .NET, SOAP, XML, MSMQ, and ASP.NET. Beyond the current feature set of Callware's award-winning Callegra line -- Callegra .UC also features an enhanced browser-based client for message access, a new Web services-based integration for Microsoft Outlook, Web portal integrations for other groupware packages, a new snap-in to Microsoft's Management Console (MMC) for remote system administration, a multi-site networking architecture offering scalability to over 1 million users, and much more.
Callegra .UC is an entirely new architecture, featuring an object-oriented, n-tier distributed design that allows the platform to have incredible modularity and scalability. Single server systems start as small as 4 ports of voicemail and scale upwards to 240 ports per server. Multiple node network installations can support thousands of ports of full unified communication across multiple servers. Callegra .UC has been designed to fill the needs of converged communication applications of both today and tomorrow.
"Callegra .UC was developed over the past 20 months to be the best way to extend unified communication and messaging functions into any enterprise application," said Reino Kerttula, president and CEO of Callware Technologies. He added, "Tremendous opportunities exist for our customers by offering an open UCM platform with a Web services interface." For example, a call center application may benefit from integrated fax functionality, while outside sales reps need voice and fax access over their PDAs or customer care agents manage their voice and fax messages from inside their CRM application. Callegra .UC revolutionizes the way businesses use UCM by allowing them to create optimal UCM integrations as needed by department, while still enjoying the benefits of a corporate-wide UCM system.
Callware Technologies' current award-winning Callegra and Solo VoiceMail 5.62 product lines will continue to be offered during the initial release of Callegra .UC. Callware is targeting the initial Callegra .UC launch towards large (multiple node) network installations and towards partners desiring to add UCM value to their applications through the use of the Callegra .UC XML Web Services SDK.
"Callware partners, system integrators, and other value-added solution providers, capable of exploiting custom development opportunities, will enjoy not only the freedom to innovate available in Callegra .UC, but will also benefit from Callware's engineering and documentation support through our new Callware Developer Network," said Steve Giusti, vice president of Callware Technologies. Giusti added, "Callware now offers a Callegra .UC Developer Web site specifically tailored to Callware's development partners interested in adding Callegra .UC functions to new or existing enterprise applications."
