IVAX Names Lieberman To Board Of Directors

IVAX Corporation (AMEX:IVX) (LSE:IVX.L) today announced the appointment of David A. Lieberman to its Board of Directors. Mr. Lieberman will also serve as the Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Since 1978, Mr. Lieberman has been Senior Vice President for Business and Finance of the University of Miami, the largest private research university in the southeastern United States with total revenues in excess of $1.2 billion. He is responsible for a staff of 700 people and the functions of accounting and finance; information technology; human resources and employee benefits; procurement; risk management; real estate; and buildings and grounds construction, operations and maintenance.

Prior to his service at the University of Miami, Mr. Lieberman's financial career includes assignments as a chief financial officer and management consultant in private industry as well as 12 years with a major national auditing firm. Additionally, he was a CPA for more than 35 years and has served on six corporate boards and local United Way and Chamber of Commerce boards as well. Mr. Lieberman is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the 1999 recipient of the distinguished business officer award from the National Association of College & University Business Officers.
