SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2002

NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq:NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems Management, Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, today announced that NetIQ(R) Chariot(R) software now extends its award-winning evaluation capabilities to wireless environments through performance measurement agents on the Windows CE platform.

Whether running on a local 2G or 3G network, wireless technology provides instant access to business critical applications. However, maintaining high performance computing on a wireless network is dependent upon the number of applications deployed and accessed by the mobile workforce. Chariot enables IT administrators to conduct pre-deployment network testing and end-to-end performance measurement. The result is the unique ability to predict wireless network performance before new applications or devices are implemented.

Gartner Dataquest expects the total worldwide market for WLAN equipment intended for PC and personal digital assistant (PDA) connectivity will grow with a compound annual growth rate of 22 percent to almost $3.4 billion by 2005. This amount of growth requires successful implementation and Chariot assists in this effort by evaluating the performance of network applications; testing network devices; and predicting networked application performance prior to deployment. It also allows users to evaluate networking products, technologies and services such as Voice over IP and Quality of Service levels, and gather supporting data to justify upgrading network software and hardware. Chariot is often used by hardware and software vendors in product testing, by service providers in client engagements and by IT personnel within mid-size and large enterprises.

"PDAs can make business run more smoothly while increasing productivity, but only if performance levels are acceptable," said Steve Joyce, vice president of Network Technology at NetIQ. "Chariot ensures high quality service for handhelds on wireless environments by providing an easy and accurate way to test any network."

Chariot supports the Windows CE platform running on PDAs with the StrongARM processor. Testing was done on the Compaq iPAQ brand of PDAs.
