What: The Greater Philadelphia job market has a promising
future despite the fact that the region's
unemployment rate rose a tenth of a point since July.
Cause for the positive outlook is the anticipated
increase in homeland security spending and the $200
billion contract Lockheed Martin won. Government
contracts for these projects will find their way to
the Philadelphia region because of the area's
traditional strengths in technology and
pharmaceuticals, according to Drexel's Cooperative
Education and Career Services Dean Martin Ford.
At the Drexel Job Fair, the region's largest of its
kind, 2,000 students from Drexel and other colleges
will have the opportunity to meet with recruiters
from more than 170 companies.
When: Wednesday, October 2, 2002, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Where: Drexel's John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center (33rd
and Market streets)
Visuals: More than 2,000 students and alumni job seekers in
business suits, distributing their resumes to
prospective employers ... More than 170 corporate
recruiting booths ... One-on-one interviews with
students and recruiters.
