Data Translation Joins Texas Instruments Third Party

Network and Chooses TMS320C6711 DSP for Future Boards.

Data Translation(TM), Inc. (NASDAQ: DATX), a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of high-performance data acquisition, imaging and machine vision products, today announced it has joined Texas Instruments' (TI) third party network. More than 600 independent companies provide TMS320(TM) digital signal processing (DSP)-related products and services to help expedite their customers' development efforts and reduce time-to-market. Data Translation also announced the selection of TI's TMS320C67x(TM) generation of floating-point DSPs as the processor core in its future release of high-speed, high-performance data acquisition boards.

Based on the TMS320C6711 DSP, the new Fulcrum(R) II Series combines the real-time power of DSP with 24-bit A/D and D/A resolution, and the speed and ease-of-use of USB 2.0. Standard Texas Instruments' development tools are used with Data Translation's high-performance high-precision analog circuitry to provide custom off-the-shelf embedded solutions that reduce time-to-market.

According to Tim Ludy, Data Translation's product marketing manager, "The proven track record of Data Translation's data acquisition solutions combined with the power and accuracy of TI's C67x(TM) generation of floating-point DSPs will bring the benefits of fast, precise and powerful data acquisition to the embedded market."

"The Fulcrum II Series boards offered from Data Translation give our customers a complete, real-time test and measurement system," said Martin Burgos, C67x product marketing manager, TI. "Customers can accelerate their time to market by combining peripheral-rich C6711 DSPs with high-performance analog circuitry into their designs. We welcome Data Translation to the third party network and look forward to working with them on future technologies that will help our customers get their solutions to market more quickly."
