ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 2002
Silverpop, a provider of e-mail marketing and customer communication solutions, and The Bombay Company (Nasdaq: BBA), a specialty retailer that markets classic and traditional furniture, prints, and accessories, announced today the successful launch of Bombay's new e-mail program.
The Bombay Company, which operates over 420 retail stores in the U.S. and Canada, is seeing solid growth in online sales as part of an expanded multi-channel retailing strategy. Silverpop's solution was a solid fit with Bombay's growing e-commerce operations. Using Silverpop, Bombay was able to quickly and easily design and execute e-mail campaigns to drive sales and increase awareness for the new e-commerce program. Additionally, Bombay intends to fully integrate its e-mail lists and tracking data with the new e-commerce Website later this year.
"Bombay is a great example of a company that has taken full advantage of the interactive marketing medium," said Bill Nussey, CEO of Silverpop. "As a retail company with a strong presence online, e-mail is a logical step in building customer relationships and driving sales. With Silverpop, Bombay was able to increase its list size, define and execute its e-mail strategy and demonstrate tangible results rapidly."
The Bombay Company uses Silverpop's Dynamic Messaging 3.0 software to create, track and send e-mail campaigns in a matter of minutes. In addition to Silverpop's technology, Bombay utilizes Silverpop's Client Services offerings including e-mail append solutions. Through Silverpop's strategically targeted solutions, Bombay has doubled its in-house e-mail marketing list.
"Silverpop was a key missing piece of our e-commerce operations," said Matt Corey, vice president of e-commerce for The Bombay Company. "Their software made the creation and distribution of e-mail campaigns a staple component of our sales and marketing strategy, and their Client Services group helped us every step of the way. Our open rates and click-through rates have improved substantially, and based on our success to date we'll continue to expand this program with Silverpop."
Bombay saw rapid results with the Silverpop solution, including initial sends garnering 40 percent open rates with 16 percent click-through rates. Additionally, Silverpop Client Services group plans to help increase Bombay's e-mail marketing list by more than 500 percent its original size through e-mail append services.
