STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 2002
Sif, one of Sweden's fastest growing trade unions in the IT segment, has selected Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT)(TSX:NT) and its distributor Dimension Data to implement an enterprise data network to connect its Stockholm offices to 25 branch offices.
"Nortel Networks initially surprised us with their demonstrable ability to provide the right LAN and WAN solution," said Allan Zoltan, chief information officer, Sif. "But the strength of their portfolio reassured us even though we had initially considered other vendors. All our branch offices required a fixed port, L3 switch that would cost-effectively deliver enhanced network performance, simplicity and flexibility. Nortel Networks new Passport 1424T fit perfectly."
With the new network, Sif will benefit from a highly redundant, scalable and high performance network. This will enable Sif to deliver better service to its members, and to meet the demands of a fast changing environment.
Nortel Networks will provide Sif with a network infrastructure capable of supporting Quality of Service (QoS) from the edge to the core. It will be based on Nortel Networks enterprise data portfolio, including Nortel Networks BayStack Ethernet switching and Nortel Networks Passport multiservice switching products.
"Together with Nortel Networks, we knew we had a leading technical solution, we knew we were offering value for money and most importantly we knew the client had the expertise and the confidence to buy a leading solution," said Stefan Jonsson, account manager, Dimension Data.
"Fundamentally, we understand the needs of enterprises when it comes to networking," said Jonas Glimden, business manager, Enterprise Solutions for Nortel Networks in Sweden. "Passport 1424T enables us to design a network that is simple to install and maintain, while combining network core routing features with the performance and reliability required to support a modern organization."
