First Complete Development Environment for Implementing and
Testing Web Analytics
Enables Developers to Easily Build More Effective Sites
At Macromedia DevCon 2002, NetIQ Corporation (Nasdaq:NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems Management, Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, today announced the availability of its free WebTrends(R) Developer Kit for Macromedia Dreamweaver MX.
The WebTrends Developer Kit for Macromedia Dreamweaver MX allows developers to easily build more effective Web sites by integrating Web analysis into the development cycle.
With this introduction, NetIQ becomes the first in the analytics industry to offer developers a complete set of tools for tagging and testing Web pages for analysis from within Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, thus providing the ability to minimize hand-coding time and errors and ensure Web sites are properly wired for analysis before going live. NetIQ is demonstrating the WebTrends Developer Kit at Macromedia DevCon 2002, booth 303.
The WebTrends Developer Kit for Macromedia Dreamweaver MX utilizes client-side data collection, or "tagging", for collecting Web traffic and visitor behavioral data. Client-side tagging is an efficient and effective data collection method, as it requires low administrative overhead and offers more accurate results than other data collection methodologies.
"Macromedia Dreamweaver MX is built on an open architecture so companies like NetIQ can deliver value-added solutions that appeal to developers," said Susan Morrow, director of Product Management, Macromedia. "WebTrends Developer Kit enables developers to proactively configure Web sites for ongoing analysis, all from within their development environment."
The free WebTrends Developer Kit for Macromedia Dreamweaver MX includes:
-- WebTrends(R) Extension for Macromedia Dreamweaver MX -- An IDE extension for Dreamweaver MX that expedites and simplifies the process of inserting client-side data tags into the source code of a Web site. Developers can easily tag and test Web sites without leaving Dreamweaver. -- WebTrends(R) Data Collection Server, Developer Edition -- Data Collection Server captures and logs the activity and visitor data sent from the tags that developers have inserted into the pages of a Web site. When extended to a full-scale implementation, Data Collection Server provides a simplified method to collect Web visitor data from multiple domains or from geographically dispersed sites into a single data source, saving developers significant time and effort commonly associated with managing server-side log files. -- WebTrends(R) Reporting Center, Developer Edition -- Includes all the features of WebTrends Reporting Center, Enterprise Edition, specifically licensed for use on a development machine. The Developer Edition allows developers to view WebTrends reports within Dreamweaver MX to test and ensure that a Web site is properly wired for analysis before deploying live. When organizations extend the analysis to a live Web site through the purchase of a full-scale version of WebTrends Reporting Center, users across the entire organization will then have actionable insight and the critical reports they need to make smarter decisions.
"Organizations must continuously analyze how visitors are behaving and interacting on their Web sites, in order to make changes to help them take the desired actions," said Dan Meub, senior vice president and general manager of the Web Analytics Business Unit, NetIQ. "The WebTrends Developer Kit for Macromedia Dreamweaver MX brings us one step closer towards our vision of providing our customers the easiest and most effective means to measure their Web initiatives and maximize their return on investments. Developers can also expect future WebTrends developer kits to support additional platforms."
