PETAH TIKVA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 2002
eNM LightSoft(TM)uses multidimensional approach to offer carriers
unrivalled flexibility and feature functionality
Lightscape Networks, an ECI Telecom company (ECI Telecom: NASDAQ:ECIL) and leading innovator in optical networking, today announced its next generation of network management technology aimed at enabling carriers to effectively manage their networks from the metro access to metro core and regional layers, at ExpoComm in Beijing, China.
This latest product, eNM LightSoft(TM) leverages ten years of network management experience, as well as valuable feedback from customers to deliver a network management solution that answers the ever-changing needs of today's carriers. With a number of new and significantly enhanced features, eNM LightSoft offers a unique multidimensional approach to the management of today's multiple technology converged networks.
Amongst the features integrated within the eNM LightSoft solution is a new GUI (Graphical User Interface), which introduces a multi layer view to network management supporting numerous layers: one physical layer and several technology layers for SDH/SONET, optical and data. This new concept allows users to see a complete converged view of the entire network including physical sites, SDH/SONET rings and sub-networks. This multi-layer view also supports the introduction of additional layers, such as ATM or Ethernet Layer 2, enabling the user to easily add further services as budget and market acceptance allow.
eNM LightSoft's modular software architecture follows the client-server model, which means that a much greater number of users than ever before is able to access the system simultaneously. This architecture is able to distribute network management software processes across several machines, eliminating the need and the associated costs of having to buy large and expensive "super-computers". Combined with this is a powerful multi-configurator feature, which enables users to manage and work on the same network elements in parallel, greatly increasing availability, productivity and economic benefits to the customer.
eNM LightSoft is also equipped with the capacity to manage scores of EMS's (element management systems) and thousands of separate NE's (network elements), comprising a combination of Lightscape Networks' Syncom and XDM platforms, from a single management application. The introduction of an open, published and standard CORBA interface also allows for the management of third party elements through subordinate EMS's.
"With eNM LightSoft, Lightscape Networks is offering the customer a new solution which has been built from the ground up to accommodate customers' changing needs in today's demanding and competitive market conditions, whilst still incorporating the stability of our previous offerings in the eNM range," stated Ido Gur, vice president of marketing for Lightscape Networks.
