Baxter Bioscience Executive Elected to California Healthcare Institute Board

Lawrence P. Guiheen, president of BioPharmaceuticals, Baxter BioScience, was elected to the board of directors of California Healthcare Institute (CHI).
CHI is a non-profit public policy research organization representing leading California academic institutions, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics and pharmaceutical firms.
"Larry brings a wealth of experience and a global perspective to the CHI board," David Gollaher, Ph.D., president and CEO, CHI said. "With Baxter's growing presence in California, and the importance of the Ventura region as a biotech cluster, he is an excellent addition to our coalition."
Guiheen has global responsibility for sales and marketing of biopharmaceuticals for Baxter BioScience, a business of Baxter International. Prior to his current position, Guiheen was president of Baxter BioScience North America, having served in that capacity since 1998. Guiheen joined Baxter Healthcare Corp. in 1978 as a field sales representative and quickly progressed through a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in sales, marketing, and operations in several business units of Baxter. Prior to joining Baxter, Guiheen worked for Johnson and Johnson in field sales.
CHI represents more than 200 leading medical device, biotechnology, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical companies, and public and private academic biomedical research organizations.
