More Flights, Larger Aircraft, Loss of a Competitor, and Rising

Traffic due to Carrier's Low Fare Strategy Lead to Fare Cuts

More flights, larger aircraft with more seats, steadily increasing sales from its "low fare" strategy and the loss of a competitor in a key market has led Allegiant Air to lower fares on flights linking Las Vegas with Colorado Springs and Fresno.

Allegiant Air is now offering $39 fares for its non-stop jet flights between Fresno and Las Vegas and $59 fares for its non-stops between Colorado Springs and Las Vegas on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday departures now through December 21. There are no advance purchase requirements, overnight stays, or other restrictions on the new Allegiant Air fares.

"Advanced bookings for November and December are shaping up as two of our strongest traffic months of the year," said Mark Peterson, VP--Marketing and Sales. "With our increased flight schedule, including new Saturday flights, and our new, larger aircraft available for scheduled services, we see a terrific opportunity to increase ridership and solidify our reputation as a low fare airline," said Peterson. "These new mid-week and Saturday fares will make it even easier and more affordable for customers traveling between Las Vegas and Fresno, and between Las Vegas and Colorado Springs."

Peterson said the airline is also aggressively filling the gap left by another carrier who stops flying the Colorado Springs--Las Vegas route on October 31. Instead of responding by raising prices, Peterson said the airline's low fares give customers another reason to fly Allegiant.

The new low fares will also draw more customers to use Colorado Springs as a low fare alternative to flights between Denver and Las Vegas, Peterson said

Allegiant said starting in November it will operate its 130-seat MD-87 and 161-seat MD-83 aircraft on its scheduled routes on peak demand days in place of its 83-seat DC-9. In December it will move to operate all of its scheduled flights with the larger aircraft type. The airline added the MD-83 to its fleet earlier this month.

The airline said at least 20% of Allegiant's coach seats on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday are available at the new low fares, and the balance are available at the airline's regular low coach prices. Allegiant's low fare on the Fresno--Las Vegas route has been $59, and $79 on the Colorado Springs--Las Vegas route.

Allegiant Vacations, the airline's tour company division featuring complete air and hotel Las Vegas vacation packages, also has new low rates for Tuesday and Wednesday departures through December 18. Two-night tour packages available for Tuesday and Wednesday departures inclusive of hotel accommodations and roundtrip airfare are available for as low as $99 per person from Fresno, and $128 per person from Colorado Springs, based on double occupancy.

Allegiant Air is an all-jet air carrier providing reliable, low fare jet service between Fresno and Las Vegas, Colorado Springs and Las Vegas, and between Fresno and Reno.

With administrative headquarters in Las Vegas and operational headquarters in Fresno, Allegiant Air operates a fleet of DC-9, MD-87 and MD-83 jet aircraft in scheduled and charter service.
