TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 9, 2002
Digital Fusion, Inc. (Nasdaq:DIGF) announced today that it has been awarded a five-year information technology schedule by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The GSA schedule makes Digital Fusion's business and information technology consulting services readily available to federal agencies and helps streamline contracting with the U.S. government.
"We are extremely pleased to have received this GSA award," said Roy Crippen, president and chief executive officer of Digital Fusion. "We look forward to leveraging our GSA contract and our small business status to actively pursue small business set-aside contracts directly and through our prime contracting partners."
A GSA schedule is one of the main procurement vehicles for government agencies. Created by Congress to improve government efficiency, the GSA helps other federal agencies acquire supplies and services such as IT consulting, equipment, telecommunications and office space. It serves over a million federal workers in about 8,000 government buildings.
Digital Fusion's GSA award is the result of a lengthy process in which the GSA evaluated Digital Fusion's capabilities, experience, performance history, customer satisfaction rate and business strategy, among other criteria, and determined the company could do business successfully at the federal level.
The GSA schedule means that federal agencies now have easier access to Digital Fusion's more than 10 years' of experience building and supporting effective IT systems for organizations throughout the U.S. Digital Fusion's expertise includes IT infrastructure support and integration and application development, including working with major enterprise systems such as financials, enterprise resource planning, human resources and more.
Although this is Digital Fusion's first GSA schedule, the IT company is not new to government work. For the Army, Digital Fusion helped build accounting and logistics applications, as well as systems for tracking parts and testing missiles. Digital Fusion also designed budgeting software for the Air Force and built an application for an engineering company to help it meet government workflow requirements on contracts with NASA. On the approved vendor lists for Florida and Pennsylvania, Digital Fusion has worked on many state and local government projects in Florida, Tennessee and throughout the Northeast.
"Since we already have several government projects under our belt, getting our GSA schedule was a natural step in the progress we've been making in the public sector for years," said Elena Crosby, Digital Fusion's director of legal and government affairs.
Digital Fusion's GSA schedule lasts five years, Oct. 4, 2002 through Oct. 3, 2007, with the option to renew for three additional five-year periods. The contract number is GS-35F-0012N
