Leading system integrator determines that combination of
cutting-edge software and hardware is the best approach
to achieving high availability and business continuity
CYA Technologies, the leading provider of application-aware business continuity software products, today announced that the combination of CYA HOTBackup(TM), CYA Virtual StandBy(TM), and Network Appliance(TM) storage solutions for Documentum's enterprise content management (ECM) software, has been tested and verified as a viable and superior business continuity strategy by an independent testing lab.

CYA HOTBackup provides object-level backup and restoration without application downtime for Documentum content repositories. CYA HOTBackup performs incremental hot backups based on changes in the repository state at the object level. CYA Virtual StandBy enhances CYA HOTBackup's business continuity capabilities by maintaining a live, production-ready standby repository. Testing showed that the CYA products, combined with Network Appliance storage solutions, provide expedited application recovery time, object-level restoration, and object-level replication.
CYA HOTBackup's point-in-time recovery ability was also independently validated in this blueprint. This was done by rolling back the Documentum repository using NetApp(R) SnapRestore(R) software and then rolling it forward utilizing CYA HOTBackup's batch restore capability. An example of this functionality being used in a corporation would be if corruption were detected in a repository. Using this combination of products, the repository can be rolled back to a "clean" state, prior to the corruption, and then rolled forward to any point in time to restore information. This approach significantly reduces data loss and minimizes rework. Without CYA HOTBackup in this scenario, unnecessary amounts of information could be lost. In addition, traditional backup approaches are unable to maintain the relationships and cross-references between objects, it's these relationships that power e-business processes in enterprises.
"When it comes to building a bulletproof Documentum environment, CYA simply completes the picture. No matter which backup or restoration package you use, CYA provides the necessary protective wrapper to keep it together. Good stuff," said Arun Taneja, senior analyst, Enterprise Storage Group.
Individual object restorations were successfully demonstrated with a live application on the Documentum ECM platform operating under load with the CYA backup set restored on the NetApp storage appliances. Object-level restoration protects work in progress as well as data recovered during a restoration scenario.
"I am proud that this effort demonstrated our product's synergistic capabilities with leading storage vendors such as Network Appliance. In high demand environments the need for a complete solution for protecting a company's sensitive and critical information is of the utmost importance. CYA's goal is to help our clients achieve this with innovative products that meet their needs within rapidly changing and complex technology frameworks," said Bruce Rudolph, chief technology officer at CYA Technologies.
An independent system integrator working in conjunction with Documentum Professional Services, Network Appliance, and CYA Technologies created the blueprint.
