ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 2002
Michael Dell, chairman of the board and CEO of Dell Computer Corp., will deliver the first-ever International CES Industry Insider presentation, a dynamic one-hour discussion on the latest trends in the consumer electronics industry. Dell delivers his vision for the industry on Thursday, January 9 at 3:00 p.m. in room N250 of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The International CES, North America's largest consumer technology tradeshow, takes place January 9-12, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nev.
"CES continues to position itself as the must-attend event for anyone involved in the consumer technology industry," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the producer of the International CES. "In addition to serving as the center stage for the debut of the hottest technology in the marketplace, CES is the industry's premier education event, helping attendees understand industry business and new technology. We are excited to have such a prominent figure in the computer and IT field as Michael Dell serve as our first-ever Industry Insider during the 2003 International CES."
Dell founded Dell Computer Corp. in 1984. Since that time, he has been honored many times for his visionary leadership, earning a spot on Time/CNN's list of the 25 most influential global executives in 2001 and being named the 2001 Chief Executive of the Year by Chief Executive Magazine, "Entrepreneur of the Year" from Inc., "Man of the Year" by PC Magazine, "High Impact CEO" by executive search firm Heidrick and Struggles, "Top CEO in American Business" from Worth, and "CEO of the Year" by Financial World and Industry Week.
Through its direct business model, Dell has established itself as a leading provider of products and services required for customers to build their information-technology and Internet infrastructures. Among Dell's latest global innovations is its leadership on the Web. The company is acknowledged as the largest online commercial seller of computer systems and is redefining the role of the Web in delivering faster, better and more convenient service to customers.
CES is North America's largest technology tradeshow by a factor of two. The 2003 International CES will showcase the latest innovations from 2,000 international exhibitors in wireless communications, gaming, digital video, high-end or "extreme" audio, accessories, CE fashion, consumer technology networking, broadband, mobile electronics, content media, new business technology, delivery systems and the Internet.
Online registration is now available at www.CESweb.org, the interactive source for CES information.
Note to Journalists: This year, CES will hold three pre-CES press conferences and receptions. The first reception will be held in Washington, D.C. on October 2 at the National Press Club. The west coast reception will be held Monday, October 14 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, Calif. The east coast reception will be held Wednesday, November 6 at the Essex House Hotel in New York City. The CES pressroom will return to the South Hall connector bridge -- room S229-S232. Wednesday, January 8, 2003 is "CES Press Day." While press and attendees are not allowed generally on the exhibitor show floor on the 8th, numerous exhibitors will hold press conferences throughout the day. Detailed press conference information will be available later this year. Journalists are encouraged to arrive in Las Vegas by Tuesday, January 7th to take advantage of all the CES press conferences and events.
