The Multnomah County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has selected Visual Risk Technologies' MitigationPlan.com(TM) Web service to create their Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Mitigation Plan. Multnomah is Oregon's most populous county, and home to the City of Portland.
OEM Program Coordinator Scott Salmon recognized the need for a mapping-based mitigation planning solution and chose the MitigationPlan.com Web service to meet the FEMA requirements. Within MitigationPlan.com, Salmon records the description and history of the hazards, creates and tracks the status of mitigation projects, and develops maps that graphically depict hazards and areas of impact. Salmon also generates spreadsheets listing vulnerable infrastructures and facilities within impact areas.
Visual Risk's MitigationPlan.com Web service helps emergency managers create standardized, detailed Mitigation Plans. The Web service includes a password-protected site where emergency managers enter detailed information about their organizations, potential and known hazards that affect their organizations, and mitigation projects under consideration. The emergency managers download the resulting data into MS Word and MS Excel and display locations corresponding to information in the plan on detailed maps within Visual Risk's mapping software, VRiskMAP(TM).
"MitigationPlan.com walks you through every step," Salmon said. "It covers every aspect needed in a plan without consuming too much time.
"The MitigationPlan.com Web service is gaining rapid market acceptance as the most efficient and effective tool used by emergency managers to create sophisticated mitigation plans for governments and enterprises," notes Visual Risk's CEO, Bruce Lynskey. "We are receiving a steadily increasing volume of inquiries about this unique Web service."
