CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 2002
Interlink Electronics, Inc. (NASDAQ: LINK), the world's leading developer of intuitive interface technologies and solutions for business and home applications, and PolyVision Corporation, a global leader in providing visual communications products, services and solutions to the education and corporate markets, announced today that PolyVision will license Interlink Electronics' patented RemoteLink(R) wireless communications technology. This agreement also provides that Interlink will manufacture the company's new Webster Wireless accessory. Scheduled to begin shipping later this year, Webster Wireless transforms PolyVision's popular Webster(TM) Interactive Whiteboard into a wireless data capture device. It will be marketed through PolyVision's existing sales channels as well as to the company's installed-base of Webster Interactive Whiteboard users.
"The Webster Wireless module is an important step forward in making our whiteboards easier and more intuitive to use," said Peter Hildebrandt, Director of Product Management for PolyVision. "The design of the product called for a bidirectional wireless communications link that was capable of high serial interface speeds and, unlike radio frequency (RF), confineable in the room of origin. Interlink's RemoteLink technology was the only wireless communications technology to meet these strict requirements."
"Our agreement with PolyVision is a significant step forward in the continuing development of our OEM presentation business," said Jim Reisteter, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Business Communications and Home Entertainment, Interlink Electronics. "Interlink has long been recognized as the world's leading supplier of portable projector remote controls. We now offer original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) our expertise in wireless communications technologies for meeting room applications. PolyVision's Webster Wireless product illustrates how fully our patented RemoteLink technology meets the wireless needs of the business communications environment."
About RemoteLink Wireless Communications Technology
Interlink Electronics' RemoteLink technology is an optical wireless communications link that supports multiple users and simultaneous channels of communication. Operating over a number of carrier frequency spectrums including the traditional 1-2MhZ range, RemoteLink's transmissions support 100Kbps of wireless bandwidth at distances of up to ten meters. Transmissions do not interfere with traditional infrared (IR) communications and, because they are optically carried, are contained within the room of origin. Use of multiple optical transmitters and receivers, as in PolyVision's Webster Wireless product, eliminates the line-of-site drawbacks traditionally associated with infrared, creating truly omni-directional communications.
