Rod Stewart, the artist whose legendary voice has launched a string of massive hits unveiled the delicious new concept for his new J Records album last night.

Baring his trademark vocals like never before, he transformed the glittering space known as the Tribeca Rooftop into the sexiest spot in New York, crooning songs from It Had to Be You...The Great American Songbook. First, Clive Davis, CEO/Chairman of J Records, took the stage to unveil a cluster of soaring numbers which included the 1924 classic "It Had to Be You," the 1938 classic "You Go To My Head," "They Can't Take That Away From Me" written by George and Ira Gershwin in 1938, "The Very Thought of You," and "Moonglow." Then, a gorgeous Rod dressed to the nines in all Versace belted out two songs "The Way You Look Tonight" and "These Foolish Things" to a super VIP crowd that included Rod's beautiful gal Penny Lancaster, Ellen Barkin and Ron Perelman, pop star Joey Fatone, BMG's top man Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, music's mega-lawyer Allen Grubman, renowned producer Richard Perry. The ambience was stunning as over 150 candles flickered, the wine and food overflowed and the romantic music brought the swooning crowd to its feet for a standing ovation.

Comments Rod Stewart, "Recording these songs that I grew up with has been a life long dream of mine. Making this album was a great challenge and I'm thrilled with the outcome."

It Had To Be You...The Great American Songbook will be released on October 22, 2002 on J Records.com.
