SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 2002
New Helpdesk Solution will offer English, French and German
versions built on the Microsoft .NET Framework for increased speed
and scalability
Altiris Inc. (Nasdaq:ATRS), a leader in systems management solutions that reduce the total cost of owning information technology, today announced the new Altiris(R) Helpdesk Solution(TM) built on the Microsoft .NET Framework.
Helpdesk Solution will offer the speed and scalability of the Microsoft .NET Framework via a new user interface (UI) that will also be available in French and German languages.
"Altiris Helpdesk Solution is Web-based and integrated with other Altiris solutions and therefore very easy to install and use," said David Lugo, Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union senior network administrator. "We were able to customize Helpdesk Solution to fit our organization's needs for more accurate problem escalation and improved service level fulfillment. Helpdesk Solution built on the Microsoft .NET Framework will take a solid product and increase its speed and efficiency."
"It is great to see Altiris take advantage of the programming infrastructure presented with the .NET Framework," said Richard Burte, product manager for the Developer Platform and Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp. "The .NET Framework provides advanced compilation, caching and a distributed application model on top of the Windows platform. Altiris has built a powerful application on that infrastructure."
Helpdesk Solution automates the process of identifying and solving system problems, reducing the burden on an organization's help desk and ensuring system productivity. Powerful features include Web-based remote access, a self-help center for end users, change management, workflow support, escalation, notification policies, Altiris Web Reports(TM), and native integration with Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS).
Chad Latimer, Altiris VP international sales and marketing, said, "Our European customers have been using Helpdesk Solution with great success in a limited capacity. The new version built on the Microsoft .NET Framework with added French, German, Spanish and Portuguese localization will allow our customers to implement Helpdesk Solution in additional satellite offices throughout the region. The Web-based Helpdesk Solution console, linked to the Altiris eXpress(TM) infrastructure, provides remote problem resolution managed from a centralized database."
Licensing and availability
Altiris Helpdesk Solution built on the Microsoft .NET framework is expected to be available in October. Localized French, German, Spanish and Portuguese versions of the new Helpdesk Solution are also expected to be available in October.
