LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 2002
Segue Software, Inc. (NASDAQ-SCM: SEGU), the market's e-business reliability experts, today announced the easiest to use and next generation of SilkTest, version 6.0, its premier functional and regression testing product. Focused on ease of automation, SilkTest 6.0 introduces dramatically new workflow capabilities that allow testers to easily build and maintain their automation in a cost effective way. SilkTest 6.0 enables users with different testing backgrounds and goals to become productive in a short period of time, bringing companies a more immediate and efficient return on their investment in test automation. A demonstration of SilkTest 6.0 will be available at Segue's booth #26 at the Software Testing Automation Conference, September 25-27, 2002, at the Sheraton Hotel Boston.
Strengthening the breadth and depth of building automation, SilkTest 6.0 allows users to create different types of test automation, including record and playback, traditional data driven testing, and more sophisticated framework-based test automation. New features in SilkTest 6.0 include Workflow guides for creating tests and driving test execution based on actual application data and scripting assistants such as AutoComplete, which allows for faster development of more sophisticated tests. "This new feature of SilkTest 6.0 is extremely useful," said Marc O'Brien, a senior quality assurance engineer at Kronos Incorporated. "It saves us a lot of time searching through the source code, making script development faster and increasing our productivity."
SilkTest sets itself apart from other test automation products with its unique and powerful object-oriented technology. SilkTest 6.0 provides built-in ease of maintenance, as well as complete control and flexibility for isolating the automation from typical application changes. When changes are required, new features such as Project Workspaces enable users to make changes to the application in a collaborative fashion, while helping them to organize and share information in the most effective manner.
SilkTest 6.0 also provides organizations with a cost effective opportunity to leverage hardware and machines when performing distributed test automation, which shortens the test execution cycle. With its unique agent technology, SilkTest 6.0 provides users with the most accurate user simulation. SilkTest's extensible recovery system provides instant assurance that the automation can run unattended, even when tests fail.
"Segue's vision for ease of use goes beyond capture/replay and is focused on ease of automation," said Peter Piela, VP of Development, SilkTest. "With SilkTest 6.0, Segue has packaged the experience it has gained, so that any user can develop, in a straightforward manner, reusable and easy-to-maintain automation that will provide both an immediate as well as long term ROI."
SilkTest 6.0 will be commercially available in October 2002.
