TOWSON, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 2002
Marking yet another "first" in the hockey careers of Mark and Scott Fusco, the brothers have been recently named as 2002 inductees into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.
The induction of the Fuscos, at a ceremony to be held December 4 in St. Paul, Minn., will be the first time that two brothers become U.S. Hockey Hall of Famers during the same ceremony. Their induction will cap off careers filled with first-time accolades including the only siblings to earn college hockey's top honor, the Hobey Baker Memorial Award.
Elder brother Mark Fusco, playing for Harvard University, was the first defenseman to win the Hobey Baker Memorial Award in 1983. He still holds several Harvard University defenseman records, including career goals (44) career points (135), and single-season points (46 as a senior in 1982-83).
Scott Fusco is the only player to be twice named Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and holds the longest scoring streak in Harvard hockey history: at least one point in 29 consecutive games. He still stands as one of the most prolific scorers in college hockey history.
He is Harvard University's all-time leading scorer with 240 points (107-133) in 123 games played, and also tops the Crimson's assist list with 133.
"The talents that make a top hockey player - sharp mind, achievement-focus, and dedication - are found in abundance in Mark and Scott Fusco. Their hockey skills transferred perfectly to the competitive IT arena," said Roy Haggerty, President and CEO, Ajilon North America. "Ajilon is doubly fortunate to have such accomplished sportsmen and businessmen as part of our national team."
In both hockey and business the Fusco brothers' careers are marked by symmetry.
Both played for Harvard University (Mark 1980-83; Scott 1983-86), were members of U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey teams (Mark at Sarajevo in 1984; Scott at Sarajevo and then Calgary in 1988), and played professional hockey (Mark for Hartford Whalers of the National Hockey League for two seasons; Scott for EHC in Olten, Switzerland for one season).
After hanging up their skates, the Fusco symmetry continued when they co-founded Software Quality Partners (SQP) in 1990, a firm specializing in software quality assurance and testing. They both joined Ajilon Consulting in 1999 when SQP was acquired. Ajilon Consulting has tapped their leadership and drive.
In 2002, Mark Fusco was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Ajilon Consulting USA. Shortly after, brother Scott joined Ajilon Consulting's executive team as Senior Vice President of the Professional Services Group.
The two others to be inducted with the Fusco brothers are Joe Riley (deceased) from Medford, Mass., the third Riley sibling to be inducted (also a first), and Doug Woog from South St. Paul, Minn.
The United States Hockey Hall of Fame will formally induct all four
men at the Hall's 29th Annual Induction Ceremony and Dinner on Wednesday, December 4, at the Touchstone Energy Place Grand Ballroom at RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minn.
During the induction ceremony, Scotty Bowman will be honored as the 2002 recipient of the Wayne Gretzky International Award given to an international citizen who has made a major contribution to the growth and advancement of American hockey. Tickets can be obtained by calling the United States Hockey Hall of Fame at 1-800-HHF-PUCK or 1-800-443-7825.
