Netcool for Security Management Version 1.1 increases user functionality by offering several new ways to view and assimilate realtime data on security threats and the status of the IT environment. The Netcool for Security Management solution provides prevention, detection and isolation capabilities that are critical to IT organizations supporting Homeland Cyber Security initiatives.
"Security management is emerging as an intelligence discipline that incorporates information from traditional information security technologies, corporate directories and physical security systems," said Dan Taylor, Partner, Giotto Perspectives. "Because sophisticated attackers have learned how to circumvent firewalls and IDSes, security management platforms use numerous unpublished algorithms and processes to identify and prevent malicious activity. Netcool for Security Management aggregates information from multiple sources and can correlate between seemingly disparate events to provide organizations with a single security management console."
The features in Netcool for Security Management version 1.1 allow greater management control and more extensible methods for locating and tracking security information that could potentially threaten IT systems and business processes. These new features include:
- Search in Network - allows the security operator to view all events with an IP address that matches user-defined parameters. - Generate Threat Fingerprint - enables views of graphical fingerprint of all threat events. - Associated Events - enables views of security events associated with a particular threat event. - Clear Associated Events - clears all events associated with a selected threat event from the view. - Change Score - enables the operator to change the "score" of the threat event in the view. - Find Other End - enables views of all events associated with the currently selected threat event.
"As a manager of security managers, Netcool for Security Management v1.1 provides a centralized view of the security status of an organization and allows users to assign service level agreements to security management," said Suhas Uliyar, Micromuse's Vice President, Product Management. "The new features in v1.1 enable faster, more effective response to quickly identify potential threats by aggregating events and forwarding relevant information to the right people. This is critical in helping improve the confidence in the integrity of our customer's business services."
